In an effort to keep everyone up to date on what is going on over this very important weekend we decided to write this quick article to get the information out to everyone.  Please if you know some of your teammates and training partners who do not use facebook or the internet too much then call them, text them and lets try to make sure everyone gets this information.

First and foremost even though this is a big weekend for Scranton MMA with a lot going on PLEASE make sure you take the time to think about those who gave their life for our great country and freedom.   Scranton MMA has a bunch of members, friends and family who are part of our military and they all deserve a great deal of thanks and support!  Remember this holiday is not just about barbecues, parties, sales and shopping.  It is truly a time to remember how many great people made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Next up is that this weekend is PA Cage Fight 18!  I am hoping that a lof of our members make the trip down to Kingston, Pa to support this great event.  It features a bunch of very local and very talented mixed martial arts fighters from all over NEPA like Joe Fye, Rex Harris, Ian Brofsky, Chris Hettes and Stephon Galka.  All of those great fighters have helped Scranton MMA in the past by training with us at our academy or training with our members at their own academy.  This is one of the big reasons I really look forward to going out and supporting this event because it is filled with fighters that we have the pleasure of working with.  I wish all of them the best of luck.

However most importantly for all of us at Scranton MMA is that our very own STEVEN WILSON will be fighting on the card in one of the professional mixed martial arts fights.  Steve has trained a great deal for this fight.  He has travelled all over and has put in a ton of hours to get ready and I really cant wait to go see him in action.

I hope that we can get a lot of our members together and make the tirp down.  Please just message us at or send us an email at

Also one last thing we wanted to bring up in this article is that all regularly scheduled classes will be cancelled on on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.  Again please take time out of your day to think about the sacrifices that have been made by the great men and women who served in our armed forces.

With classes cancelled we will schedule an open mat or two over the weekend.  We will post it on facebook/twitter/ etc and we would appreciate help in getting the word out.
