On Tap This Week In Jiu-Jitsu ~ 3/31/13 – 4/6/13

Beginners Six Month and Under

~Monday through Thursday at 6pm, Monday and Friday at 10am

When your opponent stands up inside of your guard with a split leg stance they are extremely vulnerable to the highly effective hook sweep!

Intermediate Six Months to One Year

~ Monday Through Thursday 6pm

You already know the hook sweep from the Gracie Foundations program. However sometimes your opponent is standing in a way that prevents the hook sweep; when this happens the cross hook sweep is the best option. This week you will learn the cross hook sweep and how it combines with the hook sweep to attack your opponent’s base from the open guard.

Advanced One Year Plus

~ Monday and Wednesday at 7pm, Tuesday and Thursday at 10am

Continuing our focus on the guard, this week will highlight butterfly guard. Although extremely in street effectiveness, the Butterfly Guard is highly useful in the sport. When you find yourself against an opponent who is rooted in base on their knees, you can use butterfly guard to get the action moving! We will first work basic control grips and sweeps and then later in the week we will show you how to use them in combination with a back mount threat for optimum effectiveness.

See you on the mats! ~ Jeff
